New Queers on the Block is an unprecedented road trip of contemporary LGBTQ+ art and performance brought to you by The Marlborough Pub & Theatre in Brighton, the UK’s leading producer of queer-led performance. Over the weekend, seven artists explore power, gender and the nuances of queerness in a programme that spans experimental theatre, dance, poetry and video art. All tickets are free or Pay What You Decide.
The weekend includes film screenings from Istanbul Queer Art Collective and Samir Kennedy, and performances from Ira Brand, Subira Wahogo, Benjamin Sebastian and Jamila Johnson-Small, aka Last Yearz Interesting Negro. Artist Nando Messias also conducts a long table conversation on what it means to be a member of the LGBTQ+ community in Folkestone.
